Our incubator is specifically tailored to help talented designer-makers who are also developing creatively.

You can tap into what you need, when you need it and as we are a social enterprise, our services are provided as a package below commercial rates. With our support, designer-makers profits at Cockpit Arts have increased year-on-year at an average of 25% (above the rate of inflation) since we started measuring in 2005.

The Day

10.30am – 12.30pm: Talk and tour

This is a chance find out more about Cockpit Arts, meet some of the team and ask questions about applying.  You’ll also get the opportunity to look around the studios, and hear from current studio holders about studio life at Cockpit.

12.30pm – 1.30pm: Lunch

The chance to continue discussions over refreshments; chat to studio-holders, staff, and other designer makers hear about studio-life at Cockpit.

1.30pm – 4.00pm: Business Surgeries

Book a one-to-one session (40 minutes) with an accredited Cockpit Business Coach. Get  tailored feedback and advice on developing a designer-maker business and/or applying for a place at Cockpit. This diagnostic will help to assess the growth potential in your business and provide tips on how to manage the transition from home to studio.

Who is it for?

The Open Day is for talented designer-makers who are interested in applying for a studio at Cockpit Arts. Whether you are established or just starting out - you will be looking to actively grow your business.
 

The studios create a friendly and stimulating space – with opportunities for sharing ideas, skills, networking and collaboration. The majority are shared by between two and five people, though there are some single studios. The studios have 24/7 access, 365 days a year. All have natural light, electricity and broadband access.
